Getitwhit was lucky to attend Australia’s #1 music festival — Big Day Out!
We traveled to Melbourne to cover the event and couldn’t be more pleased with the way the day turned out.
Especially after we learned the headliners, Red Hot Chili Peppers, had lifted their strict photography request and allowed us to photograph them inside the media pit (aka the best seats in the house!) The crowd was out in full force for the band’s 90 minute set. Girls were hurling themselves at security, just to get near the stage.
Meanwhile, we got to hang out with the band’s drummer Chad Smith!
Other big names were: The Killers (who didn’t allow photography), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, B.O.B and Grinspoon (famous Australian band).
Big Day Out is the perfect outdoor combo — greasy food, alcohol, rides, great music and people who are looking to have a good time. The experience can be compared to America’s Coachella, located outside of the Palm Desert.
The day’s highlight? Our quality time with Chad Smith and getting free booze in the media tent!
